Honest mistake

I always thought the air gunner on the left was Fred Gash but he is Michael Young as he was identified by Andrew Long.

There’s more to find about 264 Squadron later as Andrew Long has shared several photos in his collection adding captions.

 

Of the three men, far left is Ian Stephenson, middle is unknown, right Mervyn Maggs. Stephenson and Maggs flew together. 

Leslie Plimmer Russell on the left. A New Zealander who regularly flew with Michael Young. Left 264 to join Bomber Command where he was later killed in action.

 

 

Man on right is Mervyn Maggs, one of 264’s Gunnery Leaders, and was one of the two ex Royal Flying Corps airmen to serve on the squadron.
